SUSTAINABILITY

What inspired you to start working sustainably?

I think it is everyone’s responsibility to do their best to tackle this problem, not only at home but in my case, trying to find a way of working ethically and respectfully ( as much as possible ) with our world.

I think as fashion always comes back in circles, why can’t we just try to adapt that to our daily basis jobs? In our case, we can try to re-use the cuts out of our gowns and find another life for them.

What do you do to lessen environmental impact?

We have always been very careful with our waste and try to keep as much as we can to be able to re-use it for another design, but small scraps that we can’t use are collected by a local textile artist. We see our work as a way of art in many ways so we thought it would be beautiful to continue a different form of art with our scraps designing some lovely textile pieces.

We also are in constant search for recycled and natural fabrics that can use for our collections.

We are glad to say that in our new collection we have reached a 60% to 70% of recycled textiles and We will keep searching and try to reach that wanted 100% Ethical label.

We have worked with different suppliers for years, but the ones we use the most are from the UK, Spain, and Portugal. Our manufacturers use vehicles with low carbon emissions and less packaging is usually sent out. In addition, they are constantly searching for fully recycled fabrics and trims to supply us.

Who supplies your fabrics and where from?

We always had the idea to give the cut outs to some textile school or something like that, but We got approached by Alice Burnhope (a couple of years ago now), a local Textile artist asking us for some of our natural fibres fabrics.

Since then We keep everything We can’t re-use ourselves and hand it over to her so She can create her magic.

What gave you the idea and how long have you been doing it?
